I have had a love and talent for drawing cartoons for as long as I can remember. I don't just draw other people's characters either, I've made up my own. I've written and illustrated stories, made tons of comic strips, and even made homemade dolls of my characters. No one really taught me how to draw, it was something I seemed knowing how to do. I have dreamed of making a carreer out of cartooning since I was a kid. However, that doesn't seem very likely to happen now. :( I've put a few of my creations in newspapers here and there and in a couple of magazines, but my chances of becoming a full-time cartoonist where I actually get paid real money doing what I love seems like just a dream. :( And the stresses and responsibilities of having an ordinary job, let alone a career, is something I may never be able to handle.

I used to cartoon almost obsessively as a kid, and made comics and what not. Now I just do painting, and am hoping to study Painting as a major when I go to college. Good stuff.

so you can make up a web site, and start there. If XKCD can do it with stick figures, you can too...

Why do you think it seems unlikely to happen now? You are still young.

I imagine it would be a competitive field. How do most cartoonists go about making a career of it? Do most go to art school?

Have you put any of your stuff on the net and tried to advertise it?
Or have you ever considered collaborating with other artists and/or writers?
