In your opinion what is the heaviest loudest band ever? Metal I mean. Please provide a youtube clip or something if you could. I'll tally up the scores/

Suicide Silence brings back hilariously awful memories. I saw them live at Mayhem Festival 08. They were so heavy that it sounded awful, and it was really funny.

Well, an ex-roommate's boyfriend once introduced me to something called "noise metal." I'd google/youtube that. It's heavy, awful, and well-suited to it's name.

but define "heaviest?"

Heaviest? I think Morbid Angel deserves the title of heaviest metal band in history. No questions asked!

When I think of "heavy" I think of a prominent bass/low-end kick. I don't really get that from second generation black metal like Darkthrone or bands that tried to sound like that, they seemed to be going for something else. Sometimes black metal bands go for a bit of a Celtic Frost groove, but otherwise...

Some particularly heavy death metal that comes to mind includes Incantation on their Onward to Golgotha album and Autopsy on Severed Survival and Mental Funeral.

That said, overall asking what the "heaviest" and what the "loudest" is is a pretty trivial question. Just adjust the volume or the bass level yourself.

Back in the late 80's, Napalm Death was the heaviest... here's why.

That's brutal. Don't get me wrong, I love sabbath and judas priest but I don't consider them to be that heavy compared to some other stuff out there.

The original post probably meant heaviest on Earth. They may have been surpassed, but iirc the Guinness Book of Records listed The Who (although not a Metal band) as loudest. Ever since I saw them live, I have to constantly repeat the phrase "Speak up please, I once attended a Who concert."
