Ive always hated nickel-back and thought they were one of the worse bands, but I just heard this "Burn it to the ground" on the radio and loved it. It sounded like Metallica. I felt embaressed when they said who it was on the radio though. Has anyone heard that album and is it all as good.

Don't need to feel embarrassed. Take a look at my Last.fm profile... Judging by all the other nice stuff, does Nickelback look like they really belong there? Not really. But I've got all of Nickelback's albums.

"Burn It To The Ground" is from their latest album, Dark Horse. Cool song. This album is a big change, and it's a very weird album and you've gotta let it grow on you. It's got some more Top-40 stuff like the All The Right Reasons hits that make most rock fans cringe (such as "Gotta Be Somebody"), but it's got some hard edged and heavy tunes that are chunkier than anything found on previous albums to contrast those. Although they sound different from Nickelback, the sound just doesn't suit them as well. I love those tracks, though. Especially "Something In Your Mouth." "S.E.X." has a short but neat wah-soaked solo.
Only song I almost can't stand is the final track, "This Afternoon." This is only because it's a cliche bandwagon country anthem song that fits right in with the s**t modern country watering down the airwaves.

Overall, not a bad album.

Sorry, I don't buy into the word 'Nickelback' being followed by the word 'Good'. They're trying to continue a musical genre that was coopted by the major labels in the early 1990's.

BTW, Freinds don't let freinds get stuck listening to Nickelback!! !!

A band not to be confused with a UK based boy-band of the same name:

Don't get me started on Nickleback, I can't stand CockRock, their music is total trash and objectifies women.
I am from their home province of Alberta, and you would think people here would love them, which is not the
case, here in the city they got their start there is a radio station that refuses to play any of their crappy music,
Nickleback's music only appeals to the people who lack musical taste and the intelligence to know what good
music really is.

Quote:
In 2009, Word Magazine readers voted Nickelback "Worst Band In The World," receiving 19.8% of the vote.

Not always.

Most of the music I listen to is nothing like Nickelback.

And this is not an effort to defend the band. Nor am I in denial that I listen to a few other bands that are indeed sh***y music. I just don't give a f***. Something different is nice every now and then.

And for the record, Chad Kroeger is a lowlife sonuvabitch as a person. There is a place where you draw the line. Objectifies women? If I don't like the meaning of a lyric I will tune it out. For example. Does every metal head want to worship the devil and murder and commit every sin in Satan's to-do list, which has been in metal music almost from the start? If I listen to a song with lyrics such as "Figured You Out" do I view women with the same disrespect? In fact the majority of rock music objectifies women, (not assuming that you listen to one thing or another) marketing them to be good for nothing but their bodies. At least of what gets the credit for typical rock music, for example AC/DC, Guns, the obvious appearances in a music collection.

I don't know why, but for some reason I've not heard their music. As much as Courtney Love's name as been in the media, wtf?

But like I said, the majority of the mainstream hard rock that gets the spotlight.

Alright then I get the point. I'll change my statement.

I'm still gonna investigate that one, as well as Hole and whatever else you throw at me. I'd appreciate it, it is a shame that female artists do not get as much spotlight in the rock world, I don't hear about most of them. That's sexism at it's lowest, they're not advertised as much, I forget to search them out.

Thanks.

And check out Shannon Curfman, some great blues rock there. Got her debut album, it's fantastic.
