Oh, well you see, I have this "book" thing where I have to buy them and they have to be mine. It drives me insane not to be able to keep a book that I really enjoy.

Plus, I think I owe the library something like $70 in late fees... :?

I love Harry potter. I held out until the third, when my best pal finally went "Look, you should read these. You'll love them." It was right around teh time the fourth came out, and I remember being that caught up in it all to. Enjoy it now, becuase Rowlings sys she's only goign to write two more.

I borrowed the first four from my frriend, and I have only the 5th and 6th in hardbound. I want the rest in hardbound too. Just haven't had the money.

I suggest just going to the library and getting it to read, and buy it when you have the money.

Technically, paying off the library fine would be more expensive than buying the book (which Amazon has in hardbounf for $16.99 plus shipping right now). And buying it at a local bookstore, say Borders, it'd be over $30...

I've read 1-5 all over Christmas break. Other than eating, sleeping, showering, and talking about the books, that's about all I've been doing.

OMG... What am I gonna do once I read the 6th and then I have to wait months upon months to get in the final chapter to the saga (#7)??? 8O I don't know if I'll be able to take it. I might have to just keep reading the other ones over and over, desperately trying to satiate my addiction.

(I've even gotten my mom to start reading them. She's on Prisoner of Azkaban.)

PS- The 4th HP film will be coming out on DVD on March 7th. I wish it were sooner though. :(

I remember one christmas my mum bought the first three books for me (the only ones out at the time) and I refused to read them for quite a few months. Eventually I caved in because I had nothing else to read and I was craving a book and found that they were alooott better then I expected. Now I order them well in advance so I'm guaranteed a copy when they come out and spend the rest of that day devouring the book.. I'll put off eating just to finish the book as quickly as I can. They're great books :) I have no idea how they're going to fit all of the HalfBlood Prince into a movie that is suitable for most ages though - content and timewise.

Not that it's going to happen, but I wish they'd allow the movie to be as long as it needs to be. But I guess if they put all the stuff from the later books in, Daniel Radcliffe would be 25 by the time Harry graduated from Hogwarts, hehe.

And I see now that they didn't put in the lead-in in the fourth movie into the fifth (where Fudge begins to discredit Harry and Dumbledore). I really wonder why they didn't put that in. They'll have to backtrack a bit in the fifth movie...

I weakened today after deciding that I don't really need to eat and bought book six from Walmart for $18.99 plus tax.

Ah well. I was a bit sad though to see it's not as long as the 5th book. I'll be done probably in about three days and going through withdrawals again...

I too will be sad when the series is over. I read the first one when it came out because my kids were at the age where they were reading it, so I read it with them and was hooked by the end of the first page.

And Sophist, I imagine you are currently reading the book.

Oprah said "Happiness is being in the middle of a good book". I say "happiness is being in the middle of a good, BIG book". That way it ends less quickly.

So for those of you awaiting the next Harry Potter book, I'd like to recommend a 6 book series that I got addicted to last fall. The first book is called "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon. You can buy the paperback for cheap just in case you decide you don't like it.

I love reading Harry Potter. I really like the story, and J.K. Rowling is a talented author who makes a long book feel fun, absorbing, and like you're there. I also think that the movies are fun to watch, especially new ones that come out and also when you could see how close your imagination was to the filmaker. I honestly don't want the book series to end, since I love it when a new Harry Potter book comes out, trying to guess what's going to happen and all that other stuff.

WARNING: DO NOT READ THIS POST IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE SIXTH BOOK BUT ARE INTENDING TO, OTHERWISE SOME SURPRISES WILL BE RUINED!! !

I want to ask everyone about The Half-Blood Prince and Snape... Does everyone still trust Dumbledore's judgment even though Snape killed him?

I don't know about anyone else, but I still trust Dumbledore about Snape. Because Dumbledore's just so wise. He can't have made THAT big of a boo-boo. There's definitely something more here than meets the eye.

Welp, only another year and five months to go till we find out! :)
