Who is your favorite architect?

Mine is Gaudi, who designed the Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona, Spain.

Nice topic, Tim.

Mine is Hundertwasser.
I also like Gaudí; I visited Barcelona a few years ago and I went to Parc Guell and the Sagrada Família.

I want to go to Barcelona one of these days as well.

Some of the structures built for the 1992 Olympics are outstanding.

Ooh, good question. I'm not a fan of Norman Foster per se, but The Sage is the most wonderfullest music venue. Sure, it looks like a beached whale from the outside, but the inside is fantastic (one large hall and one round hall with several layers of seats; both acoustically great). Not sure if he was the designer personally but it was his company at any rate.

My least favourite architect is Victor Passmore.

I must say, I'm a fan of most of Frank Gehry's works. Also, Arthur Erickson designed some buildings that I liked.

Yay! I've been to Barcelona, it's amazing - surprises round every corner... definitely go if you get the chance! Gaudi is so unique. The fountain in one of the parks that he designed is amazing.

One of these days I might visit Fallingwater a couple hundred miles west of where I live. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

loooooooooool (etc.)

This could go in the "misheard lyrics" thread.

I never could work out what the words to the bridge bit in "So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright." I thought it was something like "Auggie takes me coming, Auggie takes me going..." which made no sense, but I thought, well, hey, must be someone called Augustus giving him a lift somewhere. Only it's "Architects may come and architects may go..."

That's that one cleared up. :D

(and I ain't too dim, I did know who FLW was - just too dim to work it out - maybe that makes me even dimmer!)

i'd like to visit there too, but it's about 400 miles east of where i live.
plenty of FLW around this way, though.

i kinda dig Mies VanDerRohe, too.
