So... One of the things I do is make music. Here lately, I have been working on a piece. However, I deem it only 30% finished. And since I got the flu in Jan, I haven't been able to think straight enough to work on it.

The problems I have with creativity are the same problems I have with social skills. I know the left side of my brain is the logical piece, and my right side is my creative social piece. I have an "idea" of what the song needs to be, but I have problems implementing it in the song. I have this problem with socializing as well.

I have a problem with exhausting myself to quite literally near death. My physical health is obviously in shambles but I can't help but to push my logical brain's function harder. So when I got the idea of what this song was going to be about, I tried very hard while still sick. But now I know I shouldn't ruin this song anymore.

here it is: http://kelpie.nerdsprime.com/D-M-T-Kelps.mp3

And the rest of my music is here: http://kelpie.bandamp.com

Edit: >_> I'm gunna have to start slapping myself from this getting carried away thing. WORK BRAIN WORK. DID YOU NOT SEE THAT THREAD?

I've used Ableton and ReFX Nexus and ReFX Vanguard on this song. I grew out of Fruity Loops Studio. I can't wait to be able to get the Roland Fantom G8 I want. ^.^

Looks like you approach music similarly to me. I tend to get focused on it to the point of ruin almost, staying up all night and tweaking or listening.

I'm also extremely logical, and have a difficult time expressing exactly the music in my head. I think it just comes with practice though, how long have you been making music?

I study and read all I can about music, theory, sound design... everything. It seems the more knowledge I have the bigger pool of ideas to pull from when the creativity starts to flow. Most of my ideas just come from playing around or experiments. I rarely see a melody fully formed in my head.

I like the texture and sound you make, but it sounds like the melody is reaching for something that isn't quite there yet. But that's how I hear it. Melody is tricky to work with, because you need some repetition and some variety. What I tend to do is take a basic melody and then tweak it multiple times and keep on working it until hopefully something pops out. But this is probably what you do anyways.

Anyways good stuff as it is though... I'd be interested in knowing what you thought of my music.

i like Tyres and Tires. Ways to make it memorable live. You play bass guitar I seem to remember. I think the way to go is fret-less ala Jaco Pastorius. Play the bass line do some inprov, maybe a solo, maybe one other person on keys, sequence the rest in. That would be memorable. :D

Your music sounds a lot like mine in a sense. I think I like. :D

I have been making music since I was 4. However, on a little casio piano keyboard. Then I got a bigger piano when I was 8. Then I got a real one when I was 13 (for free, so it didn't have a lot of keys in tune), and then I started using Fruity Loops Studio on the computer in 2006. I currently have a Sony MDR-V700s and an Audigy 2 ZS soundcard. Not the best equipment, in fact, mildly insulting and a slap in the face for myself since I bought them, and there is much better. I plan on getting a very good setup which includes DACs and DSPs. I also will either get the Sennheiser HD650s or better when the time comes around.

I've always been addicted to 'composing' or at least making my own music. Whenever I've learned an instrument I'm much more interested in playing my own thing than someone elses work. I just like working on a computer making music since I can play and tweak endlessly, I always come up with ideas but have a difficulty expressing them in real time... electronic music lets me compose at my own pace.

How is the bandAMP community? I've been searching for a supportive site that is still willing to critique music for a while.

Do you have any formal music training or anything?

I love that music. It sounds like the type of music, that you hear in those space movies. 8)
