I should have intro'd myself first, but I couldn't help with a quick post. I have to choose two, Crazy Train and Comfortably Numb. I'm a long time player and these never fail to entertain...brilliant.

on the SQ quad LP of "BS&T greatest hits", in the middle of "spinning wheel" there is a tasty little country/bluesy guitar solo, that is on no other version of this song.

Definitely seconding Comfortably Numb!

Stranger In A Strange Land by Iron Maiden has another great one.

Out of the Shadows by Iron Maiden. Possibly the closest thing they've ever done to a ballad.

Oh there is beauty and surely there is pain

Between The Buried And Me - Selkies: The Endless Obsession

That guitar solo at the end is amazing.

there are a bunch of solos I love personally. This is but a partial list...

Rainbow - A Light In The Black
Dio/Killswitch engage - Holy Diver (Love both versions of the songs)
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Iron Maiden - Rime of the Ancient Mariner (The song itself is just simply epic)
Iron Maiden - Losfer Words (Big Orra)
Iron Maiden (you know what? F*** It, all their solos are great)
Iced Earth (same as for iron maiden, too many great solos to list)

thasts just a very partial list

Both of those are awesome (have you heard the Stairway "Song Remains the Same" solo? it's like the same deal but 3x as long), classic rock solos are the best by far.

My favorite is Santana "Taboo"

The whole song is wildness but the solo at the end is balls out like none other. I first heard it like 12 years ago and it still gives me chills.

Both these songs changed my listening habits forever.

Uli Jon Roth, on his last LP with the Scorpions. This is considered by many guitarists as one of the top solos to master if you really want to be respected. There are also videos on YouTube of Uli teaching the technique.

As good as that one is, though, this one has my favorite. At about 2:17 it's all solo, but it's at about 3:17 that the most haunting solo I've ever heard begins. Still makes the hair on my neck stand on end. Was, has been, and still is my all time favorite solo.
