I hope you can take constructive criticism, but...

The figures seem kind of stiff and the blonde girl's arms are too short.

Is the woman in the blue dress long in the face? Her mouth appears to be in her chin...nothing is drawn in proportion, either.

Ackman: Good artwork doesn't have to follow "rules" to be enjoyable. That being said, I sincerely enjoy your artwork and I look forward to every new post that you make. My favorite thing about your artwork is that it's a window into your inner world. Every picture is a snippet into the lives of the characters that inhabit your mind, characters that you obviously care about very much. I can relate to that in so many ways, and it touches me deeply whenever I see people making a labor of love to put their beloved characters and ideas onto paper.

Whatever you do, never stop drawing, Ackman. I love your work and you should too, even if other people don't.

Thank you. You made me feel better. I am taking classes next semester to further hone the technique. Here is one that I did yesterday:

yes, she's not really happy. Victoria's somewhat sad to see Emily go.

You're welcome. I meant every word of it, from one artist and dreamer to another. :)

I can see from this piece that you can draw backgrounds much better than I can, especially trees. What is the story behind this particular drawing, if you don't mind my asking?

Three days before Christmas, 1907. A quickly moving snowstorm dumped 13" of snow on Peter City. This picture is an offshoot of the "accident story" Rose is still in the hospital recovering. She went outside to well, go out in the snow and to get a load off her mind. She certainly has come a long way since this picture:

Okay, more constructive criticism:
In the pictures you just posted, there's no shading, no sense of anatomy and your figures look stiff.

Really, you should take this advice. Also, you should go to the conceptart.org forums for some tips from pro artists.

Then just for you, I won't do anymore. Those people over at that place are too arrogant.

First of all, the people at ConceptArt aren't arrogant. They know what they're talking about, considering many of them are professional artists. And they're actually pretty nice.

Second of all, anatomy and shading are important in art, especially if you're drawing people. Even abstract artists, cartoonists and artists who specialize in non-human subjects need to learn anatomy.

I'm not trying to be mean; I'm just trying to help you be a better artist. If you can't take constructive criticism, then don't post your drawings on a public forum. Believe me, I'm going really, really easy on you. And if you aren't going to take the time to learn skills that can improve your art, then you should find another hobby.

So, in other words I'm a no talent hack to you?

I'm not saying that you're talentless. Your backgrounds are fairly decent and you have a basic grasp of perspective. However, your anatomy is wonky and your drawings look flat because there's no shading.

I friggin' love it when people criticize my artwork or singing. In fact, I actually ask people to criticize me. Do you know why? I can take their criticism and use it to improve on what I already have. If you can't take basic constructive criticism, then you're never going to improve. There's always room for improvement, whether you're a beginning artist or a professional.

So, does anyone have any requests for the Emily series?

Sorry I acted like an arse earlier, I had a pretty bad day, I failed my math final that I took on Wednesday with a 70. 75 and over is passing, I still passed the course though, but barely.

Delirium,

I signed up for an account over there. I'm just a little bit scared of posting.

Don't be. They're really, really nice. As long as you don't throw a hissy fit, you'll be fine.

Emily as a cartoon.
