You have to keep in mind that a lot of pop songs are written 'backwards' - first the musician finds a catchy musical hook, then writes lyrics to fit the rhythm and the melody. They often make very little sense, it's not like they're actually trying to tell a coherent story (though some do), they're just painting abstract pictures with broad strokes and vague imagery. Let It Be' years ago and being surprised to find that in their early rehearsals, the words to songs I knew and loved were completely different than what I'd been hearing for years, and many of them were just drug-induced gibberish.
My son wants to sing it in a talent show (he's 12). I saw the lyrics and didn't think it was appropriate even though the tune was nice. I'm trying to get him to sing something else. He hates Rap and Hip Hop so I don't have to worry too much.
