Classical/classical music, usually, along with some Beatles. That isn't all that I listen to, though.

What is "stimming"?

And why would you need music to do it-whatever it is?

stimming is something you do when you have sensory processing disorder .

You often get overwhelmed by your 5 senses and stimming is when you expose yourself to some sort of positive sensory stimulation so feel better.

You can rock back and forth, flap your arms , listen to music, draw and may other things to give your senses some positive stimulation. stim is short for stimulation.

I often moo like a cow to stim.

I guess in that sense, headbanging might qualify for stimming.

In which case... nearly any metal song.

I'm not sure what you mean by "stimming". I don't really rock or flap or anything like that.

I do like listening to Godspeed You! Black Emperor when I crave a rush of dark hypnotic energy. The music itself is sort of like a "stim". I notice that people who only listen to music as something in the background don't appreciate GY!BE.

I'm one of those Aspies that is stimming (Patting, thumping my fingers. Cocking my head and waving my hands slowly in front of me while I speak, rolling my shoulders in circles alot) almost all the time, so there are certain songs I listen to, to actually replace the comfort of stimming and to help me remain calm and still, especially in public. Visually I fit the norm of some immature kid listening to his MP3 player in public. But without it, I might look more like a druggie needing a fix.

Mostly Zoe Keating and other soothing melodic string music :

OFFENSIVE & the music doesn't go loud enough & sounds much better on CD than online
