well, the thread title would be the only really suitable title for this.

Well, my question is, for those of you who write music/play and instrument, Do you think about it all, or does it just flow freely through you, without any need to check if theory matches up or anything?

As for myself, Most of the time I am in a state like this. I can just sit there and play and I dont have to look at sheet music, and it even could just be some freestyle playing, but it always turns out for the better. All chord/note progressions mesh together, rhythms come together no issue. It is all basically a second nature, make music by ear sort of thing for me. Basically the question above would be, any other musicians out there like this, both on forum and off forum/famous?

The musical side is a minor one with me - production pretty much limited to whistling and harmonica. But that is how it is there, how it would be if I were pushing music like #1 son. It is how I do my own stuff, which is mostly languages.

The reason I dropped the violin - which I had wanted very much to get into - was they would not let me approach it instinctually.

Spectral nephew M does music - totally asa you describe. How else?
