I'm currently writing a plot for a book. It's based off a series of drawings that my sister created when she was a kid. The story was significant to me as an autistic kid, so I want to target my book towards an audience of autistic kids within the maturity range of 8-10 (in neurotypical years).

Here's the trouble. The autism spectrum is vast, so how could someone write such a thing? Would you include a lot of text and explanation for the literal thinking type (like me)? Or would you use images for dyslexic or classically autistic types? I don't know what to do with this. :?

That sounds like a very difficult way to try and create art. You can never create something that will work for everyone, so don't even try.

Write about what you know, the whole spectrum is pretty tough to cover.
