I rely on three:
Bittersweet Ending- Happiness comes with a price tag.
Downer Ending- Prepare to get crushed.
Gainax Ending- "How's Annie?"

Sort of related, most hated ending:

"And then he woke up and realized it was all a dream. It was time to forget about the aliens, spies and impending apocalypse and get to work to support his 2.3 kids."

If I were writing stories, I'd probably try to be as realistic as possible with my endings. Sometimes, I might be brutally realistic.

Since i'm very influensed by realism and naturalism i like story endings to be as realistic as possible. Which usually means not super happy but not super sad either.

I've personally only used it once, but I really loved writing it. :)

Using the TVtropes style, it'd be Heroic sacrifice/Taking you with me by the use of explosives.

I like happy endings, but happy endings where they have to be really earned. I make my characters in my fiction go through the wringer.

Earned happy endings, because, I mean, who in their right mind wants to see everything (or almost everything) fall apart on the main character(s) after everything they just went through?
