My favourite member of KISS is Ace Frehley. You think either Paul Stanley or Gene Simmons would be the most common favourite, seeing as though they're the only ones who have always been with the band, but it seems that everyone I know says that Ace is their favourite. Unfortunately, Ace is no longer with the band, and even when he was, he didn't sing that many songs. Although he doesn't have the grand, theatrical voice that Paul Stanley does, I like his voice the best. It seems very amusing because he sounds like some normal guy trying to sing. Even though he can't sing very well, for some reason he sounds awesome. I describe him as "Freddie Mercury without the ability to sing". I also really like the songs that he sings.
With KISS, I find that the original lineup (Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss) is the best, and no other lineup can ever measure up. Right now, the members are Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer, and Eric Singer. Peter Criss is my least favourite of the originals because he didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the band as he was more into gentle ballads than hard rock/heavy metal. I still like him, though. Of the current members, I can't decide whether Gene Simmons or Paul Stanley is my favourite. I automatically respect them more than the others because they have been with the band forever and I've gotten to know them pretty well through their music. I also like Eric Carr, who unfortunately died of heart cancer on November 24, 1991, the same day as Freddie Mercury died of AIDS. The other former member who died is Mark St. John, who was with the band briefly in 1984 and died of a brain hemorrhage on April 5, 2007.
Another reason I like KISS is because John Elder Robison does their stage effects.
Gene Simmons is my favourite, I find him very funny and sexy. I used to have a great documentory on them which was fab, I remember they poured rootbear on their cereal yuk!
this is my favourite song (tho in general I prefer their heavier stuff), when I was a teen I used to listen to it in the dark in my room and smoke out the window feeling emo

Don't know, BUT......Wrong Planet inhabitant John Elder Robison was greatly influential to KISS. He was the audio man and even designed the nifty metal 'mirror-like' guitar. Mr. Robison isn't on the poll, but he's got to my favourite. And a really nice man (& inspirational Aspergian too). < *KISS*

Boggles the mind that this thread was started by somebody 16, given that KISS has been around for 35+ years.
Can't say I've ever really been a fan of the group, in any incarnation, but certain songs do bring back memories of my early teen years. I also remember there was a huge backlash against them about the time I hit high school...nobody would have dared admitting being a fan, even among the kids who were into AC/DC, Ted Nugent, Black Sabbath (during the Ronnie James Dio time), etc. And, honestly, though I've never thought of KISS as all that great, I always thought that bit was an overreaction.
And of course the whole makeup bit was originally a complete rip-off of Alice Cooper, but so what? Especially given that Cooper apparently spent most of the '70s drinking himself into oblivion. And the makeup was, IIRC, only really heavily used by Cooper on one tour. Seemed to stick to weird eyeliner only after that.

I voted for Ace as he had the best of the four 'Solo' albums, and he was a good guitarist back in the day. I will concede though that the band for all intents and purposes that the band is essentially Gene and Paul's.

Paul Stanley, no question. Whatever you may think of KISS's music, I don't know how anyone could deny that Paul Stanley is one of rock's greatest frontmen. And an excellent singer as well. I really enjoyed his Live to Win album a few years ago, and I still give it a listen from time to time. I was sad that that album was mostly ignored, and so Paul felt that he had to go back to the tired old KISS routine. He's a creative guy (check out his paintings), and no matter what he says in interviews, I suspect that KISS feels like a cage to him.
Well, maybe it's more like being locked in a bank vault.

That is certainly 1 of their most emotional songs. It's a good song, and although it was the album's only single, it's actually 1 of my least favourites from Music from "The Elder". My favourite song off that album is probably either "The Oath" or "Dark Light". I really like "Dark Light" because Ace Frehley sings it, it's very catchy (in a unique sort of way), and because it sounds so stupid (even just the title) that you can't help but like it. "The Oath" sounds so epicly awesome!
"The Elder" is 1 of my favourite KISS albums because it's very different than most of their other works in the way that it's a concept album and that it uses art/progressive rock in addition to their typical hard rock/heavy metal music. (Progressive rock is 1 of my favourite genres of music.) Unfortunately, because it was so different, it didn't do very well among their primary fanbase, and was therefore a commercial flop and had the lowest number of sales of any of their albums. It was so well done though; I would've liked to hear more of that kind of music from them, maybe even Music from "The Elder", Part 2. Unfortunately, the next few albums they released, while still good, I didn't like as much as "The Elder" or even their earlier albums. They sounded too generic and not uniqely KISS (also because they took off the makeup between Creatures of the Night and Psycho Circus, which was a long time). It's unfortunate that the era when they tried to expand their styles and genres was when they lost a lot of their popularity.
Although I'm sure it will never happen, I would love to see an actual movie of "The Elder" (as the album was a fake movie soundtrack, a rather unique and innovative concept). It would be awesome to have "The Oath" playing during the opening credits.
Do you smoke? What about pot? I didn't think aspies would get into unhealthy habits like that because they don't usually have friends who would peer pressure them into drugs.
You can tell a true KISS fan by the way they spell 'Kiss' in all caps. It just doesn't look right otherwise.
Since John Elder Robison used to work for KISS, his name should be John "The Elder" Robison. LOL!
Here's a couple songs for people to listen to:

You're welcome! As an aspie teenager, I feel depressed on a regular basis. No matter how much I hear other people tell me that things will get better, it never seems that they do. I hate high school because I have trouble making friends and even more because the workload and the type of work I have to do is overwhelming. I feel awkward, especially st school, because even though I don't really get bullied, I always feel like people are gonna think I'm an idiot for the way I act and talk, and my lousy ability to carry a converstaion. I have an aspie friend who goes to a public school and is in a homeroom class especially for aspies, but I'm in the Catholic school system which unfortunately doesn't have that. I even have some trouble making friends with other autistic people, though not as much as with NTs. I often feel like doing drugs to get rid of the pain for a while, but I have no idea how I'd get them. (Although, there are some drugs I'd like to try just for fun, especially pot, acid, and salvia.) I sometimes feel like killing myself but never actually make plans to and can't even think of a good way to.
For some reason, "A World Without Heroes" sounds sort of Pink Floyd-esque. (John Elder Robison also worked for them for a while.) I guess because it's a mellow, melancholy prog ballad. I think Music from "The Elder" may have been inspired by Rush's "2112" suite as they both have a progressive hard rock style and tell a story that seems to take place in the future and/or in space. If the original KISS lineup were The Beatles, I think Paul would be Paul (obviously), Gene would be John, Ace would be Ringo, and Peter would be George.
