I am not really a furry. I dont wear fur suits(to hot) But I get hugs from them any time I can. I love the feeling of the fur on my skin and there are parts of the life style I like.

I'm not a hardcore furry or really much of one, but I do like hanging around them and occasionally act like one. Several of my friends are furs as well, and I have a few furry avatars in Second Life.

You could probably consider me one, but very mildly so. I don't however call myself a furry. The reason being that I don't like most of the fandom. I have a similar relationship with the otaku culture.

Most of the particularly open furries are very strange or are into all sorts of disturbing fetishes(which would be ok if they didn't constantly remind you). No matter what they tell you, it's all true. There are a lot of insane people in the fandom that have lost track of reality I've never been far enough into the fandom to have a fursona, I just like some of the art and I am a fan of movies like Plague Dogs and Watership Down and books like Dragon Champion and Watership Down(book). The underlying reason to the fandom's appeal to me is that I'm a biology nerd and am majoring in sad subject. But the fandom isn't as cool as noobish me once thought long ago upon becoming more of an internet person.

Oh and I'm terrified of fursuiters. Imagine being afraid of clowns. Multiply this by googleplex.

Most of it isn't erotic. Making everyone an anthropomorphic something is just a way to express things. In fact, every piece of art involving anthropomorphism could be thought of as furry art because furry art refers to anthropomorphic art in general. Well, actually excluding anthropomorphic inanimate objects. I admit, a large quantity of furry art produced by people in the fandom themselves sucks, I'm really not sure why. But much of it is pretty awesome.

The fandom has among the largest influx of membership among any nerd fandom today. It's getting up there with the otaku culture macrofandom(Kill it with fire) which is probably the most popular one right now. It actually usually overlaps with otaku fandom a great deal.

;_; Sci-fi and the high fantasy fandoms get no love anymore...

yea and correct me if i'm wrong but with the furry fandom, it's rarely sexual. it's just a way to express oneself. i'm not a furry but i know what it is and stuff.

that being said, i like the art, the erotic and the non-erotic...i mean weather we're having.

And there's nothing wrong with liking that. It's just that people don't need to post it all over the internet. To get those three pieces of art, I had to go wade through erotic pictures. That isn't right. As long as you keep it mostly to yourself, it isn't bad. I am at the border of the fandom because people on places like Furaffinity love to sully your innocence with pronz. Everywhere, even outside where it is supposed to be, there is pronz. In profile pics particularly. It's horrible.

The funny thing is that the otaku culture is the same way. That culture is ridden with porn. But apparently people are color blind and don't sh*t bricks when someone spams a board with shotacon/lolicon or tentacle rape.

This being within the art/music/writing part of the forum why don't we convert this thread into an art/writin/music(there is such thing as furry music.) thread? We have 2 threads arguing about what the fandom really is currently running on this forum in the random and the adolescent subforums. What say you, OP? Of course, we can still debate on the side. ^.=.^

see i was trying to make a joke. like when people say one thing and then is like "i mean nice weather we're having" but i think i messed it up.

anyways some sites have filters that filter out certain subjects. i know furaffinity.net does. also inkbunny.net has that kind of filter i believe.

yea the otaku culture is the same way. and i feel the same way about that too.

anyways yea keep pervy stuff to yourself because not everyone likes that.

I don't know. Whenever I look at anthro art, I stay on Deviantart. FA requires the use of mind bleach pretty much everywhere you go. It's frustrating.

Never said it was all erotic I just thought it was as wierd as hentai.

Just my opinion. If you like it, don't let me stop you. I just don't have any attraction to it myself.

Jones, Palin, Chapman, Cleese, Idle, and Gilliam predicted all of this back in 69. The subculture didn't really exist until the 80's, I believe. I find this rather amusing.
