I can relate to liking video game music; I usually prefer it to other forms of music. For some reason, I find myself drawn more background music than songs that require active listening; when playing a game, the midi sets the mood, but doesn't break your concentration.
My favorite game midi comes from the 16 bit era of video games; Mega Man X, Final Fantasy 4 and 6, Donkey Kong Country, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, and Yoshi's Island all had great music. They may not have been as elaborate as the orchestrated stuff modern consoles pump out, but they fit the mood of the games better. Of course, when it comes to video gaming, I'm an old fart who prefers good old fashioned side-scrollers to these newfangled 3D contraptions, so what do I know, eh?
