Which do you prefer?

I prefer headphones as they have alot of bass and high quality sound, and the pressure from them is very comforting. Its almost like my ears are getting a hug!

My headphones are WeSC Tambourines.

I love those when im home, but when i go to work or to college i prefer the earplug ones

I refuse to use earbuds of any kind. Just miserable.

Anyways, earphones. I love the bass sound that comes out of headphones but they hurt. I can't get them just right. They're either too tight or too loose.

Headphones

Earphones, because earplugs hurt too much and headphones feel too claustrophobic, bigger to carry around & more restrictive on position when lying down.
Would prefer to use headphones though to cut out external noise & get the better quality of sound tranmission / exclusion they can offer.

I always hated them, but finally had to give in as I was breaking FAR too many headphones (seriously, I was having to buy a new pair every month as I kept standing on them or they'd break in my bag) and these were always what came with my MP3 players.

I am a headphones guy, but once in a while I use earbuds. I think headphones are better for serious listening, earbuds are good when you're on the go although I wasn't afraid to wear my big Sony headphones in school during study hall.

Headphones aren't annoying and drown out sound very well. So I prefer them.

I prefer headphones I don't like the idea of sticking earbuds in my ears.

Ear buds for me. I wear ear plugs and ear defenders at work, so it's a simple matter of popping out the ear plugs and popping in the ear buds.

On headphones, I took some cartilage damage to my right ear about thirty years ago, so pressure to that ear is excruciating. I can handle on-the-ear headphones for about 45 minutes before I have bone splitting pain on the right side of my head. Over-the-ear headphones like my ear defenders, or aviation headsets, work fine. Unfortunately these seem to have fallen out of favor in the home market, so they're horribly difficult to find these days outside of a high-end audiophile store. Pity.

Those are my headphones. Wouldn't ever consider using earbuds unless sporting.

Nondescript earbuds with easy fittings for cycling.

Sennheiser HD428's for computer work and for listening to self-hypnosis CD's. I love them, but they are delicate and won't travel well since the cord is flimsy and there is a lot of plastic on the headphone casing. Any suggestions for headphones that can be packed into a suitcase and won't get crushed easily? Mine didn't come in any kind of travel case and I will be moving overseas in about six months.

Cheapie earbuds for my ipod, but I don't like them because they hurt after 30 minutes, and I use them to exercise. Any suggestions on good earbuds that can be used for hot, sweaty, outdoor walks lasting an hour?

For the headphones I would recommend the Audio Technica ATH-M50 which I own too. They are great looking high quality folding closed-back headphones, and I have them for the sole reason of travel. They go in a bag nice and compact, but provide brilliant sound quality that belies their price. My one and only concern with them is that there's no way for removing the cable from the ear-pieces. My JVCs do this, and it's absolutely perfect for extra damage prevention, not to mention easier when putting the cord inside your clothing.
They also come with their own traveling pouch if that is of extra benefit.
Best of all though, they're cheap! (For higher end headphones.)
