i just read a really interesting interview with syd barrett's sister rosemary. she suggests that he may have had autistic/aspergers traits. when you think about it, with a lot of his lyrical content, and the way his life transpired, it would seem very plausible. an interesting read for any fans of syd.

I think it is possible he was autistic/aspergers. Or something else. He sure wasen't normal!

I watched a tv program on Syd Barrett and they said that his mental problems began because his mother died and after many years of drug abuse his problems progress.

He was special but I like some of stuff that he did.

Without him maybe that Pink Floyd would not be there today.

i remember a VH1 documentary on pink floyd/syd and most of his bandmates believed he went crazy because he did way too much acid and had schizophrenic tendencies. however, i believe he was either an aspie or high functioning autistic. i could see how too much of a drug like lsd might screw with an aspie's mind and drive them into a state of reclusion.
