I like goth music, although I get confused as to what defines "goth." Is it a particular sound, a certain way of writing lyrics, a special kind of black fishnet stockings you have to wear? All these different niche categories make me scratch my head: Darkwave, Dark Ambient, Dream Pop, etc. An ex-girlfriend of mine tried to educate me about these things, but she gave up on me. I am old.

Anyway, I enjoy goth but I've never "dressed goth" or embraced it as a lifestyle. My favorite group right now is a Brazilian band called Scarlet Leaves. They have some free downloads here. Nice dark and relaxing stuff. Beautiful vocals.

Welcome, by the way!

I like a lot of goth music, had goth friends, and used to go to goth clubs in the 90s, but was never really a goth. Mainly because I'm crap at all the make up and hair side of things, and just liked dancing to goth music.

So, no you're not the only one.

I’m not Goth at all, but I think Goths rock and I can appreciate Gothic Architecture. Is the Cure Goth? Because they’re pretty great.

They deny it, basically because saying that you are not part of a genre is cool, but let's face it; albums like Pornography and Faith are nothing if not Gothic. +the hair.

One of my favourite darkwave (subculture of goth) groups; Sopor Aeternus. (Their songs can take time to build up).
The singer, Anna-Varney Cantodea is a worshipper/devotee of Saturn.

Jusa - the symbol she uses to represent her beliefs. Jupiter and Saturn's symbols combined.

I love you. Though strictly speaking, Sopor is not a group. But whatever.

The closest I've ever come to liking goth is early Ministry.

Just four years later, the band turned into this:

The mind boggles.

Yes, I love many kinds of gothic music and am not a goth. I also like the typically wannabe-goth-but-not-really-just-called-that-by-ignorant-folks music...Awful I know. I mean as in Evanescence, who even are my favorite band and I am very, very ashamed of it. And of course I also like other genres that are never even associated with goth.
Now, back to the topic of goth, I do like the clothes and all though, and own a few pieces of clothing that could be considered gothic. I'd like to wear them more often but I'm lazy as hell and often don't feel clean enough to wear nicer things so as not to ruin them. And even when I wear those clothes I very rarely wear make-up. Furthermore, I do not consider myself a goth. I just like the much of the aesthetics.
