My favorite type of music is R&B music but i like some other genres. Some of the artists i like are Alicia Keys, Avant, Cassie, Bobby Valentino, 112, Janet Jackson, Mya, Amerie, LaToya, Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Brandy, Monica, Cherish, Rhianna, Jason Derulo, Tyrese, Usher, TLC, Ne-Yo, Jordin Sparks, Aaliyah, Jazmine Sullivain, Mariah Carey, Nivea etc... Some other artists i like that aren't R&B are Jewel, Coldplay, The Fray, B.O.B., Gym Class Hero's, Nickelback, My Chemical Romance, Debi Nova, Selena, Katy Perry etc... Let me know if you like any or all of these artists?

Out of the ones you've mentioned, I like/love 112, Mýa, Amerie, Usher, TLC, Aaliyah, Mariah's earlier stuff (before Glitter) and Nivea. Janet is a legend for several reasons, so I'd like to mention her apart from everyone else... especially considering she inspired so many of the singers (and their dance choreographies) of the generations that came after her.
I'm glad I finally see anyone mention Mýa and Nivea. I was crushing on both of them back in high school... Check out Don't Mess With The Radio:

I am also quite fond of Ginuwine, Montell Jordan, Sisqó/Dru Hill, and Chanté Moore. How do you like them, Tica?

i love r&b-ish instrumentals, always puts me and everyone else I work with in a good mood (for most of the instrumentals I play at least), though these youtube examples aren't that high-quality.

I've been listening to a lot of R&B music lately but mostly the late 80s and early 90s/new jack swing stuff. TLC, Aaliyah, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Bobby Brown, Lauryn Hill/Fugees.

I know it's been 2 weeks, but I see someone mention New Jack Swing and, well, seeing as how here in Amsterdam there's actually going to be an R'n'B Throwback Party, featuring Bell Biv Devoe and GUY among others, I thought I'd post some jams from back in the day:

Bell Biv Devoe, proving there was life after New Edition:

New Edition's enfant terrible, Mr. Brown himself, when he was still on TOP:

And here's Jade and Brownstone, with their respective greatest hits:

I like some R&B songs, but I wouldn't say I enjoy R&B as a whole. A lot of my favorite R&B songs came from the '90s.

No Diggity - Blackstreet

Waterfalls - TLC

Say My Name - Destiny's Child

I actually really enjoy R&B, however, my R&B tastes are different for my age. I like mostly old stuff, and the new stuff I like is like, Sade, and maybe Maxwell? Can't say I'm a fan of much new R&B, it's a bit too explicit for my tastes. Oh, and I even like jazz fusion, especially stuff from Japan, it falls a tad under the R&B wing to me.

But hey, I'll go post up a ton of youtube videos for old R&B songs I like, I'll try to hyperlink all but a few, though so there's not a giant scroll down of youtube videos in my one post.

Oh, Oh Sheila... one of my favorite songs ever.

Black Box - Ride on Time A bit more on the house music side, but I LOVE this.

Cherelle - Saturday Love

The System - Don't Disturb This Groove

Al B Sure - Night and Day

New Edition - If It Isn't Love

Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody

Sade - No Ordinary Love

Keith Washington - Kissing You

Johnny Gill - My, My, My

Daryl Hall - Kiss On My List

Levert - Casanova

That's all for R&B, but for 80s freestyle music, I have loads of that I love too. Matter of fact, I love all kinds of poppy music, it's like my favorite stuff. Here's a freestyle song.

I don't like modern R&B that much, though. Old stuff I can and do listen to all day sometimes. To me, it's like, really sad, the direction that genre of music has turned as of late. I'm also glad a few people on here listen to R&B and stuff occasionally, usually I gather everyone on here to listen to metal 24/7. But yeah, for me, older R&B and music in that realm (R&B, freestyle, italodisco, eurobeat, eurodance, happy hardcore) is a bit of an obsession, and I think generally considered an odd thing as a 20 year old male to listen to the music I do. Oh well. sorry if my post was excessively long and boring.

No. I'm actually listening now, some of the songs you posted are completely new to me, so thanks for sharing.

I think I've posted both of those tunes in an R&B thread here before. Crackers.

Here's one you might not have heard. I think this is a 'jam'

The Whispers - Rock Steady
Timex Social Club - Rumors
The Jets - Crush on You
Expose - Come Go With Me 80s freestyle, not quite R&B but similar enough and great regardless.
The Cover Girls - Take it While it's Hot freestyle.
Quincy Jones - Secret Garden (older slower R&B, quite nice)
The System - Don't Disturb This Groove if you only listen to one song in this post, listen to this one.
Jacob Wheeler - Magic Oddly, this song is the ending theme for the anime Gundam 0083 (which I love) good slow R&B song
Skyy - Start of a Romance
Sade - Your Love is King
Joceyln Brown - Somebody Else's Guy
Evelyn Champagne King - Love Come Down
Mikki - Dance Lover More old house music, I only know this song as I randomly bought the record on a whim for like 50c at Salvation Army, good purchase imo.
Sandee - You're the One Freestyle, again only know this one from a random old record I bought for almost no money
Stephanie Mills - Something in the Way
Melissa Morgan - Fools Paradise

OK, I should stop now. Is this what people talk about with Aspie obsession? I could go on all day about this type of music...
