I think my own life is largely meaningless. There are things that normal people want; a family, friends, some kind of stability, of normalcy, those things do not appeal to me. What I want is to create something worthwhile. I am 26 years old. Some time between 30 and 70 years from now I will be dead. My body, once the hub of all that is unique about me, will become only so much organic material; food for whatever microbes or parasites happen to be in my vicinity. What will remain of me is whatever I have created. Something which I can only hope will last, if not in its original form, in some derivative form inspired by what I have created long after I have gone. What I want to create is a universe. A computer game of sorts, with a vast explorable existence, but which every part of it is at least as interesting as any game world yet created. I want to create something interactive, something dynamic, which will change the way people think about art and creation, and in turn inspire newer and greater creative works of the kind I cannot yet conceive. I have played many computer games, and while many may remind me of what I want to do, they all seem to miss the mark in crucial ways. They are all stuck in the notion of what a game should be, and I wish to redefine that notion. A game should be anything you choose to call a game. It can be anything dynamic, anything to explore and create, where the lines between playing and creation are blurred in entirely new ways. I do not know exactly the form it will create, but it continues to develop in my head, and one day I will create it.

What do you want to create?

Have you played Rayman Origins? I want to create something like that, for starters.

It isn't enough to create something that is like something else. What can you do that is better than Rayman Origins?

Well... everything a human mind can come up with is based on something else, something that has been seen, heard, felt; experienced.

But, I understand what you're saying. I can only figure it out as I go on, I suppose.

I agree. It would be quite impossible to create anything truly great in a vacuum. The only thing that is great is that which has improved on what has already been done. So what appeals to you about Rayman Origins, and what could you do better?

I'd like to create a comic book series of The Kinks.

So what's stopping you from doing it?

The line of questioning you're adopting doesn't seem warranted by your original post. But I'll answer on Cocker's behalf: it is difficult to draw comics (and usually takes a lot of training to do it well), it takes a long time (which implies the person doing it needs resources) and usually (almost exclusively in professional comics) they are projects undertaken by several people working together, not by an individual.

Personally, I dunno. I frequently feel that I should try to create something, but I'm not a very original person. The closest I've come recently is translating stuff out of Middle English, and the interest to me of doing that is more the language than in producing a finished result.

I know it is difficult to create things that are good and that are interesting. It takes time, effort, training. I suppose as interested as I am in hearing what people want to create, I also want to see them, if they truly wish to do so, make their visions a reality. It takes time, but if you have set the goal in mind, and you are working toward making that creation a possibility, that is what I truly care about. If you think it too difficult to make your vision a reality in this world, then what can be changed about the world to make your creative process easier? Ambivalence, does your interest in languages extend beyond Middle English? Have you considered learning any other languages? What is it about Middle English that interests you?

I'm interested in words and word order. My first language is English and French my second. I read some other European languages to a basic level and every now and then I try a new one. Specific to ME I enjoy alliterative poetry and there are many interesting etymological links.
