Tumult

The tumult of darkness is
Sleeping now,
It slumbers in warped silence
In bleeding, gaping holes

The tumult of darkness is
Waking now,
It stirs in the cold
Feeling outward for warm
Life

Why has it stirred now to
Claw within?
Its hatred seeps deeper in
The recesses of its
Putrid soul

Why must it poison those
Surrounding it?
Turn their hearts to ice,
Their brains to stone,
Their organs into decaying matter,

Dark soul has become what
It is,
A cancerous sore in the
Poppy fields.

Temple

The halls are full of wonder
The doors are full of light
Yet I could not open them,
No matter how hard I tried

The windows never shatter
They sparkle in the light,
They will never open though
They keep their seals tight

The eaves echo with lost sound,
Gleeful in its making
They curve off into nothingness,
Carrying the reverberation

The walls are sturdy and strong,
Standing firm against intrusion
They guard secrets never told,
They do it with dignity,

The lies I tell myself
Are beautiful in construction
No-one will ever know
The true state of my temple.

See

To see the life we left behind,
To see it clearly in the looking glass
We must become clear and reflective
To see in ourselves our former selves,
The ones we used to be

The ones who danced and laughed and shouted in joy,
The ones who played tag in the tall grass,
The ones who were free

The see outside the box of repetition,
You must open the lid or you will be
Blind from those who help but shun you,
Those who blank you, walk away from your smiles,
As you stand there, waiting for a response

Ask and you shall receive, for we are generous,
We contain all of life’s fun and joy,
We sparkle with its magic,
We keep it all within ourselves,
Just you wait and see –

Island

An island we must become
To save us from ourselves,
To save us from within,
The feelings that become parasitic,
Drain us of reason

An island we must become,
It is what must be,
Must be because it must
Or the musk of free life will
Fade and leave us with sorrow

The old and the young meld in their
Mind-set, their freedom to do what they
Wish as their age gives them the right to do
Wrong in the society we
Live and die in.
