ALL TIME
(echo echo echo)

(until today's date)

I like lists.

I couldn't partake in the top ten albums of 2011 thread as I don't know any albums from last year. (elderly and out of touch).

So here is a thread with a broader scope for more aged WP members, and those who like the past better than the present.

I'm sure it's been done before, but heyho.

1. REM - New Adventures in Hi Fi
2. Radiohead - OK Computer
3. Bjork - Debut
4. OMD - Souvenir
5. Human League - Dare
6. Stevie Wonder - Inner Visions
7. Portishead - Dummy
8. Don Mclean - American Pie
9. Joni Mitchell - Blue
10. Erasure - Chorus

Really they could have all been REM and Radiohead, I just chose my two favouritest of theirs.
And this list might be completely different if I did it last week, or next week. Or in ten minutes.

If you don't like top tens you could just tell us some of your favourite albums, and waffle a bit about them if you like. It's all good. :D

Scott Walker - Scott 4
Joni Mitchell - Blue

Albums feel like a thing of the past now, like books, or any text that isn't full of hyperlinks and attached to the global brain

OK, I'll try a list...

But I'll try to list them according to the impact they have left on my life.

1) Definitely Maybe - Oasis
I have never had an album that got me so hard. I loved every song.
2) Who's Next - The Who
The album opened me up to a lot in terms of how I relate to music in general.
3) Some Friendly - The Charlatans
This album is the main reason why I know and love The Charlatans.
4) A Storm In Heaven - The Verve
Nick McCabe entered my life and to this day remains my favourite guitarist of all time. The work he did on this album is exceptional.
5) Loveless - My Bloody Valentine
This album blew my mind. I listened to nothing else for two weeks. It was exhausting.
6) Hail to the Thief - Radiohead
Maybe "Pablo Honey" would be even more relevant here. But around the time I got into this album, I got really into Radiohead.
7) Lazer Guided Melodies - Spiritualized and Sound of Confusion - Spacemen 3
Spacemen 3 lasted for 2 years and I could not get into them completely, so I am hopeful I'll listen to more by them in the future. They're an underappreciated band, while they have influenced bands such as My Bloody Valentine. Chapterhouse were fans, too. And Ride. Spiritualized have always been too impersonal for me to like the whole band. It was mostly about Jason Pierce. And occasionally the nerdiness that is Sean Cook. Spacemen 3 had soul. I like that Jason Pierce went on with Spiritualized, but he was beautiful in Spacemen 3. He and Pete "Sonic Boom" Kember had a great working relationship. Well, they had great chemistry. They had a lot of issues besides that.
8) October - U2
It took me a while to fully grasp U2, but this album did it for me. "Rejoice" is still one of my favourite U2 songs. At the moment, I am into "War". Great album.
9) The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
I listened to the album for the first time on the way back from our class trip to London in 2007. It was a magical experience. I fell in love with John Squire's guitar and the whole band.
10) Viva La Vida or Death and all of his Friends
I loathed "X&Y". It took me many years to appreciate it. But this album changed it all for me. I also saw them play live on the tour promoting their fourth album and it was a great experience.
