Hello,

I've recently become a fan of this genre of music and have listened to quite a few bands as well. Sepultura, Attack Attack, Trivium, Black Water Rising, Overkill etc. I like stuff that isn't too mellow. I thought that Metallica's Black album was a bit too slow for my liking for instance although I still thought it was good.

Anywho I would greatly appreciate any recommendations.

Do you have a less generalized idea of what sort of metal you're looking for? For instance, there's harmonic metal which is this...

and there's the heavier metal like this...

Then there's progressive rock like this...

Less generalised. Hmm probably heavier metal or thrash. :) Though I'll listen to any.

I could fill pages with just the metal on my playlist. All three of the songs I posted are there.

Let's see... Harmonic metal my two favorite bands are Kamelot and Epica. When it comes to thrasher and heavy metal, I'm quite flexible. There's the one I posted, then there's these...

Mastodon

Jucifer
Arkona
Baroness
The Sword
Boris
Opeth

Those are some bands that play heavier stuff I like, though I'm more into doom/sludge/stoner metal in general.

Yayyy metal chicks!

@Sweetleaf: Attack Attack! is metalcore I think. Trivium is...thrash metal and metalcore.
I'll listen to any metal really though. :)

Thankies!

Yeah Trivium is more thrashy metalcore....and its intresting metalcore and thrash metal do have something in common both are more or less influenced by punk and metal metalcore leaning more towards an initial punk influence and thrash leaning towards a more initial metal influence. Good and bad in both genres though.

But yeah Skeletonwith is pretty awesome if you ever get a chance to see them in concert, if you like going to metal shows that is.

If you enjoy DTP, check out Strapping Young Lad.

Far better IMO.
