Check this out, she was most likely murdered by the Khmer Rouge, although no one knows what happened to her for certain.

It was a chart topper in Asia and apparently the UK.

This is really excellent, thanks for posting. I've also heard Phnom Penh has a pretty great punk rock scene, although I haven't heard much of the music myself.

Glad you like it, I was just introduced to this scene recently.

I've had the Cambodia Rocks! Compilation since 2007. Here's a selection by Sinn Sisamouth and Srolan Srey which even though it is clearly influenced by Santana also has it's own thing going on. Also, nearly ALL of the people invilved in the Khmer Rock scene in the 60's and 70's were killed off by the Khmer Rouge.

Also, I've had The Thai Orchestra album since about the same time, and even though it's titled Thai, I've had people from Thailand and Cambodia tell me that it's actually Laotian, which is still quite close to being Thai in of itself.

Very cool. I've been living in Cambodia for about 8 months and I've never heard music like this. I feel like I've missed out. Most people seem to like newer Khmer pop music which I'm not a fan of. I will have to look into this older stuff.
