uh...Raven...i think you read a different book. I read the whole series MANY times and never read anything about removing the boy. He stays with his family and has his ups and downs, but makes friends and learns to do MANY things. Sadly, the author died before it could be officially finished and the last book is a really really really first rough draft with no artwork, just basically a script.
I think this series should be in EVERY building (houses, doctors offices, hospitals...yadda yadda yadda...)
It shows BOTH views about Autism as well as introducing OTHER problems (ADHD, abuse and other behavorial problems).
They even made a tv version that runs about 11 episodes that covers I think the first two books...however in the show, there is no younger sister.
It's all in Japanese however, and I can't remember where I managed to download it from, it's English subbed though. I'm willing to share it with anyone that wants to see it. It's very well done.
And for the record, I am on the Spectrum...and feels it represents us quite well.
