Not necessarily from video games but inspired by the synthesizers they used.

I enjoy Chiptune music, as I'm also a fan of video game music.

Can someone explain me the exact difference between 8bit music and chiptune?

I always seem to mix up these two.

Quite interesting. I am also into chiptunes - I like the more serious works, like those of Johannes Bjerregaard or Rob Hubbard.

The newcomer Haeyoung Kim aka Bubblyfish IMHO just has what it takes to make really good chiptune music.

Never knew this was the name for it.

Might need to explore some of it more.

I've started making similar sorts of music, by amplifying noises from echos/fade outs of songs, and looping them into some kind of glitchy melody.

Here is a selection of game music I once got obsessed with (the obsession partially lasted for years). The cracktros of games were also often very nice.

This could have been me and my obsession! ;-)

Video game music often used to be a source of special, more sophisticated works - I have gotten to know many very appealing tunes with video games - one of my favourites turned out to be J. S. Bach's music.

Some years ago I discovered a guy who calls himself Covox. He´s made some excellent chiptunes.
The tune "Final Mission" was released as a 7" vinyl EP, which only made things better.

"Do the Droid" is from his first full-length album. CD only. :(
