Has anyone heard of a 10-disc series called "The Private Collection". This is actually a series of recordings Ellington kept to himself and didn't give the recordings he made to the major recording labels (i.e. Columbia, Verve, Decca). Hence, they're "Private" recordings. I myself haven't listened to all of it. Does anyone else have it, since I'd like to know how you felt about these old jazz pieces. I felt strange with some of the recordings, like a very slow version of the old song "Autumn Leaves". One that stands out to me is a version of "Cottontail" that has a different tune than is usually associated with that Duke Ellington composition.

Never heard of that particular disc set, but I am a big jazz fan.

Thanks for the reply. Also, has anyone heard of an 8-disc box set of Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington performing on the French Rivera in July of 1966. It's a long set of pieces, and some of them are even repeated throughout the different nights.
