An Alternate History Of Lenin's Rise And Fall
Here is a story I've been working on for a few hours. It is a tale of the alternate life, death, and revolutionary activities of Vladimir Lenin. The POD(point of divergence) is that following the death of Sasha, Lenin's brother, Lenin becomes wholly committed to anarchist ideology(historically Lenin threw anarchism aside as a viable ideology, instead becoming a Marxist).
Enjoy, and tell me what you think.
Vladimir Lenin knew that he would be sent off to the gallows soon enough. Sasha had borne a most similar fate at the hands of the Tsarist authorities. Yet for now, his comrades and he were hidden from sight. “Safe! You use that word as if you really mean it. We are no more safe then the average peasant is safe from the Cossacks' knout!” The warm confines of the small house in which Lenin and his co-conspirators hid was suddenly reduced to a depressing ash. As if to hammer his point home, he stood up from his chair in the equally quaint dining room.
“Do you all know what the Tsarists will do to us once they discover that it was we who continued the fight when all others backed down in defeat? We're all dead men. But I'd rather die a hero fighting for the people's aspirations then sit here and continue to subsist on coarse black bread!” At that instant, Lenin threw down his share of the black bread he had previously been eating back onto his plate while he continued to tower over his friends. No one dared speak as Lenin continued, his hands now firmly planted on the table between his plate. Broad shoulders and a brooding stature added a certain flair to the passion inherent in his voice.
“I say that we announce our presence to the authorities. I'd rather they look like the true idiots that they are then continue on such a wild goose chase to sniff us out of such an obvious hiding spot.” A meek, scared voice arose from Lenin's small audience, that of Alexander Zyuganov, which gradually grew in strength and confidence.
“I will follow. If anyone else wants to go along with us to our doom, so be it. We leave at tomorrow at dawn.” A gradual murmur arose amongst the six hideaways seated at the table. Soon enough all six anarchists would agree to follow Lenin to a most certain, lasting punishment in Moscow's courts.
“So be it indeed.” Something flickered on Lenin's face. A smile, perhaps? As he reached for his coat that sat on a rack opposite the table, he muttered something incoherently under his breath.
“Did you say something?” Lenin peered deep into the eyes of the anarchist whose mouth had opened when he had expected a stony, calm silence from everyone.
Lenin spoke softly, just loud enough so that only the few sitting next to him could hear. “I'm going outside for some fresh air. My safety be damned.”
The idea about lenin as an anarchist sounds interesting. I'm looking forward to part two.
I had once also a idea about alternative history.
The economy crisis between the two world wars was much more worse. A global revolution. Than fights between different communistic parties and a brute global dictationship combinend with a bad economy.
And then the government decided to start an expansion into the space.
