@HilarityEnsues: That's a reasonably-accurate parody of modern-day hip-hop. I wonder where the "large penis" idea comes from, and why people listen to music so repetitive. Some of the older stuff is alright, and some of the newer but less-commercial stuff is pretty decent. I respect Brother Ali for saying political things about US politics that got sponsors angry. Showmanship is half the art of hip-hop.

I think 90s rap is the best. The majority of really good rap music came out when I was a teenager.

HilartyEnsues - I take it that's a joke? I know it's stupid to rap about liquor, hoes, drugs and guns. I despise most of modern day rap because of this reason, rapping about big butts and how they have a shiny ak47. Tupac and Scarface are not like that, they speak from experience, they really have seen it all and done it all. And the message they bring is that it's a hell, not a gangsters paradise like most modern day rappers say.

Venger - Yeah Icecube rocks! I used to listen to him alot, but i can't anymore because most of his lyrics make me crave weed... had a very bad addiction on that one. Not saying that Tupac and Scarface don't sometimes say it's nice to toke up but they also say it can ruin you.. the truth.

This music i linked is a small part of what i like. To me these songs are pure emotions, i used to cry hearing them because so many words are true.

I think that's the point of hip-hop; to be a voice for those who have a hard time speaking out. I've been listening to some Big Daddy Kane lately. While I like what Kane does with various plays on words, I also like what Nas has to say about various conscious issues. Plus Biggie's song Juicy gives me hope that I can make it in a world that always tries to hold people back from achieving big dreams.
