What's your favorites by them? I think they are better than the Beatles. I love Macca and Lennon, but The Kinks really hit a chord with me.

My favorites are (have probably forgotten a few):

Long Tall Sally (the really bad cavern club live version, it just has soo much energy)
Beautiful Delilah
Every Night I Just Can't Sleep (can't remember its proper name, from the first album)
Too Much Monkey Buisness
I'm A Lover Not A Fighter
You Really Got Me (done better live in my opinion)
All Day And All of the Night (better than YRGM)
Tired of Waiting For You
Set Me Free
A Well Respected Man
Sunny Afternoon (The first song I ever heard by them, on a Time-Life commercial, was instantly intrigued)
Mr. Pleasant
Waterloo Sunset
Autumn Almanac
Death of a Clown (by Dave Davies, but always on Kinks comps, and epically whimsical)
Apeman
Lola (L O L A LOLA!)
Dedicated Follower of Fashion

I'm not the biggest The Kinks fan, but I did used to have One For The Road when it first came out. I was into punk then, and on that album, they played hard and heavy. Also, since The Jam and the Pretenders were big The Kinks fans, that's how I got into them.

I like Waterloo Sunset - it was the favourite song of a friend of mine and it was played at his funeral.

I hope Cockney Rebel sees this thread :)
