I love electronioa music. Espeically trance and ambient. This one group I'm listening to "the orb" the song is called "Little fluffy clouds" it some girls describing the clouds over the dessert of Arizona in the meantime their is this really cool beat in the background.

I also use ambient music to help me sleep. I normally put a shoutcast station that broadcasts ambient music. Anyone else like electronica?

Most of the music I listen to is techno.

I get distracted when I hear music with words.

I listen to most styles of trance except some of the harder stuff; some styles of house like progressive house and tech house; some styles of techno, like minimal techno and detroit techno. Sometimes I may listen to ambient, breaks, psychedelic/goa and electroclash.

I like listening to the Chemical Brothers, LCD Soundsystem and the occasional Daft Punk. I also listen to psychadelica on shoutcast when I need to concentrate on something for a while.

The Orb are so cool. They're one of the few groups around that I can say puts out consistently good tracks every single track.

I've been getting into electronica for a few years now. Drum'n'Bass got me attracted to it in the first place but it became too constricted a style to listen to all day.

So I started getting into some of the big names. Underworld I LOVE. I like some Orbital. Of course the many aliases of Richard D James always put out amazing stuff. If you like ambient music Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Vol. II is the very best in my opinion. Warning: it's not for people expecting a beat nor any structure whatsoever.

I've been getting UK rave music from late '80s to the early '90s recently. I want to hear Detroit Techno from the mid '80s. Apparently that was like the first techno music. I've been listening to some Kraftwerk also - trying to get to the roots of it all.

Also, does anyone know any good gabba/gabber (not sure how to spell) music?

I like Orb, Orbital, Chemical Brothers and some of Daft Punk (some of the stuff on "Homework" is too weird).

I love the editing of the voices on "Little Fluffy Clouds" -- I sometimes find myself thinking in that same disjointed kind of way.

Welcome to WrongPlanet, TechDeck! :D

I used to be really into The Orb, German trance (Visions of Shiva etc) and The Future Sound of London, Chemical Brothers and The Aphex Twin are good too... I always preferred the ambient/trancey stuff, or dub influenced stuff like a lot of The Orb's second album 'UFOrb'. I rarely listen to techno/electronica these days but still appreciate a fair bit of it (except garage, hardcore and most house music).

Lol, I think my member name says it all. I'm a total dark drum&bass fiend (mostly the dark rolling jungle from 97 to 98 as well as some of the 2003/2004 stuff that kinda brought that back some - my all-time favorite has to be Dj 3D). I also like the more panicky and dysphoric side of acid techno (2000'ish Chris Liberator, Dave the Drummer, Mark EG, Chris McCormack, etc.) as well as real deep & epic progressive trance (like John '00' Fleming). I'm all about the sublime though - doesn't matter whether it's electronic, industrial, or hip-hop; just so long as it's well done, seems like it's connected to something much grander than society in some way, and in general makes me think.

Hahah check out some of his music videos if you can..................you'll never be the same again.

Someone posted a link to this hardcore site - I checked it out. There was a link to a web radio station there:

This is some very intense crazy stuff they play on here - sometimes gets upto 230bpm.

Hmm...I could answer the question directly and say, "Yes, I like electronica/trance/techno," but then I might be obligated to demonstrate some knowlege of artists and subgenres, which I cannot do...*sigh* One of these days I have to start buying my own CDs, thus familiarizing myself with the styles of music that appeal to me... I do listen to the Digitally Imported trance online radio station (http://www.di.fm) when I get the chance.[/url]

BTW, right now for anyone who really likes jungle/drum&bass like I do, especially the dark & grimey side, here are the people who IMO are hot right now:

Dj Ink (Renegade Hardware)
Dj Hive (Violence Recordings)
Dj Syze
Technical Itch (not new but he's staying on with a vengeance - Technical Itch recordings)
Loxy (Renegade Hardware)
Evol Intent
Keaton (Violence Recordings)
Raiden
Chris Su (Technical Itch Recordings)
Bizzy B
TZA (Barcode)
Subwave
Kryptic Minds
GENR8
Silent Witness (DNAudio)
Skandalus

yeah, I'm kinda sporatic as to which of their sets I like but trust me, if you try and find some mixes by em and keep searching you at least fine one per each of these that you won't be dissapointed with (and for those of you who are thinking about checking in music stores you won't find it - its only available on line but then again its legitimately for free download).

BTW, here's a *very good* mix that actually vaulted Dj Ink way up my favorites list. You've gotta listen to this one at length to do it justice though, great one for summer (you'll probably be feeling that by the time you get into the home stretch of it):
