No.... but I like a lot of his music, particularly the Mothers era. Also, is Miles Davis one of your obsessions? --I couldn't help but notice your avatar.

I don't have an obsession for Zappa but I like the Mothers of Invention and I find his daughter Diva cute.

I did, for a short while, back in 1997.

I am about as big a Zappa fanatic as they come.

He has to be the most under-rated and diverse artist ever. Sadly there will never be another like him.

However I don't listen to him as much as I used to, but he opened my ears up to classical (Ives, Varese, Stravinsky, Carter, Boulez, Lachenmann, Riley etc.), jazz (Return to Forever, McCoy Tyner, Eric Dolphy, Django Reinhardt, Miles, Trane, Sun Ra) avant garde and noise-core (Boredoms, the Locust, 5 uu, Thinking Plague, John Zorn et. al.).

I have yet to get the new guitar one that the ZFT released.

I don't have a obsessive love of Frank Z, but I do for sure love his lyrics. They are rock solid contemplations of a parallel world people seem to live in. And a good voice for "telling song tales".

I started to collect Frank Zappa records very early to my parents disguise. And Depeche Mode. And Kate Moss. And a completely weird mix of different artists, making any vinyl lover wetting their pants. Kraftwerk. Nitzer Ebb. Operas. Mainstream club music. I eat it all. Favourite "snooze" music is shoutcast with trance from di dot fm. I sleep like a baby with that music. So does one of my kids too. Loops with repetition.

I never bothered to learn how to mix music, but I can tell when a DJ is a phenomenon or a wannabee. Strange. I use music to relax, and about 155-160bpm relieves me of stress. I work most efficient around that BPM.

This is quite interesting, since one of my two AS sons goes into "trance" state at exactly the same BPM, and simply can do his homework like directing an orchestra whilst listening to a 5-6 minute mix. But do I put the wrong music on, it's best to start all over again from the beginning. Zappa has created a musical and lyrical "bestseller" over the years, even though it's half the BPM normaly required.
