I'm fairly confident that I want to do this, but I figured I'd get the input of others here to see if it's actually a feasible or legitimate topic, so here it is.

As an audiophile (music lover) and aspiring psychologist, I have always wondered why/what makes people sing with the lyrics of songs that they know. I can't seem to find anything on Google Scholar, though I might not have the right search terms. Would this be something worth looking into? Or is it something that I could get partially into and not get anything else? Let me know what you think.

I think if you find an answer, advertising/marketing agencies would be very interested. That's assuming they haven't already studied this extensively. Might be worth looking into.

you mean "what makes folks sing along" as opposed to liking hearing a song (on the radio or other medium) but not actually singing along to it?

sing, hum, whistle; yes. I most often times find myself doing it subconsciously
