Why is Pink Floyd's music so addicting?

I can't stop listening to Pink Floyd! I have The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, The Final Cut, Animals, Piper At the Gates Of Dawn, and I just went to Best Buy and bought Atom Heart Mother and Meddle. I'm really into other bands, like The Black Keys and Gorillaz, but I've been so addicted to Pink Floyd since last year. I can't stop, man! Lol, what is it that makes Pink Floyd so great?

Only appeal I've heard from them is unique ambient playing. Nothing I've ever heard from them sticks to my memory even.

Well, everyone has their own opinions. To me, Pink Floyd's music has very memorable music.

The Wall is one of the greatest albums ever.

Yeah I went through that in my younger years. Started with Dark Side and after that I had to hear it all. They just sort of have a universal quality about them, it's hard to explain. They write a lot of really solid, memorable songs, and many of their albums are very consistent in quality with not a lot of "filler" or throwaway tracks.

Waters-era (Dark Side-Final Cut) probably holds up the best and is the most timeless overall. But I still go through phases where Saucerful of Secrets is randomly awesome.

I think the thing about most classic bands/music is that they have something about them which transcends time and place. Pink Floyd has a sound, meaning and appeal which appeals to lots of different people. My parents liked them, I quite like them.

That's pretty common, there's a language barrier as it were when one tries to get into them.

Once you get a sense of the music it gets much much better.
