Autism speaks but no one hears
They can see problems but not the tears
Needing flexibility but refusing to budge
It is so much easier to label and judge
Emotionally fragile struggling to fit in
Disobedience and punishment again
A confusing blur of expectations and demands
Constantly seeking for someone who understands
You do your best but they say you don’t
They say punishment will help but it won’t
Adding to the burden that’s already too much
Sensory overload smell, sound, sight and touch
Who will be the voice for one who cannot speak
For those who are defenseless, wounded, weak
Who will be a friend who cares about you
And less about the odd things that you do
Who will change the world you live in
See your uniqueness not your “sin”
One who warmly accepts you as you
Loves you for you not what you do
One who understands the need to belong
One who listens as you sing your song
One who is loving, patient and kind
Who isn’t offended when you unwind
Autism speaks there is one that hears
Who constantly prays and sheds many tears
…..peace…..
