Whenever you listen to a song, do the lyrics sometimes "resonate" inside of you and hit some sort of a emotional chord?
Whenever I go through life experience, a song usually comes to mind. I will usually interpret the lyrics as an event in my life.

I will give you an example.

Even Flow, thoughts arrive like butterflies. He don't know. So he chases them away.
Some day yet, he'll begin his life Again.
Whispering Hands, gently lead him away.

I'm writing this thread because that is what has exactly happened to me. I feel an emotional connection to a song.

Best Regards,

Jake

Yes it does the song "Time" by Pink Floyd is a perfect example -"Ten years have got behind no one told you when to run you missed the starting gun"

There are several, but I'm only naming one. It's part of Cinderella's "Nobody's Fool."

You take your road, I'll take mine
The paths have both been beaten
Searching for a change of pace
Nothing's too be sweetened.
I scream my heart out just to make a dime
With that dime I bought you love
But now I've changed my mind
I'm not your fool...

I also have a couple... The first that comes to mind is Push And Pull by Nikka Costa. I posted it before. The lyrics are pretty self explanatory.

Also, Memories Can't Wait by Talking Heads.... THough I usually listen to the cover version by Living Colour:

Do you remember anyone here?
No, you don't remember anything at all
I'm here, flat on my back
Never woke up, had no regrets

There's a party in my mind
And I hope it never stops
They party all the time
Gonna party till they drop

Other people can go home
Other people, they can split
I can never stop
I can never quit

Take a walk through the land of the shadows
Take a walk through the peaceful meadows
Don't look so disappointed
Isn't what you hoped for, is it?

There's a party in my mind
And I hope it never stops
I'm stuck here in this seat
And I may not stand up

Other people can go home
Other people, they can split
I can never stop
I can never quit

Everything is quiet
Everyone's gone to sleep
I'm wide awake, but these memories
These memories can't wait
These memories can't wait

I dunno, usually I'm very long-winded with explanations in this kind of thread, but as with the Nikka Costa song, I'd say its all self-explanatory for the most part. Though I have to say the above lyrics applied more to my state of mind of some 4-5 years ago, when I posted these same lyrics on another forum.

Dig For Fire by the Pixies

Quote:
There is this old woman, she lives down the road
You can often find her kneeling inside of her hole
And I often ask her "Are you looking for the mother lode?"
No, no my child, this is not my desire
and then she said "I'm digging for fire
I'm digging for fire
I'm digging for fire
I'm digging for fire"

There is this old man who has spent so much of his life sleeping
That he is able to keep awake for the rest of his years
He resides, on a beach, in a town where I am going to live
And I often ask him "Are you looking for the mother lode?"
No, no my child, this is not my desire
and then he said "I'm digging for fire
I'm digging for fire
I'm digging for fire
I'm digging for fire"
I'm digging for fire fire fire
I'm digging for fire
I'm digging for fire, for fire, for fire
I'm digging for, for fire

English song: SHE'S GIVEN UP TALKING by PAUL MCCARTNEY

She’s given up talking
Don’t say a word
Even in the classroom
Not a dickie bird
Unlike other children
She’s seen and never heard
She’s given up talking
Don’t say a word

You see her in the playground
Standing on her own
Everybody wonders
Why she’s all alone
Someone made her angry
Someone’s got her scared
She’s given up talking
Don’t say a word

Ah but when she comes home
Its yap-a-yap-yap
Words are running freely
Like the water from a tap
Her brothers and her sisters
Cant get a word in edgeways
But when she’s back at school again
She goes into a daze

Ah but when she comes home
Its yap-a-yap-yap
Words are running freely
Like the water from a tap
Her brothers and her sisters
Cant get a word in edgeways
But when she’s back at school again
She goes into a daze

She’s given up talking
Don’t say a word
Even in the classroom
Not a dickie bird
Unlike other children
She’s seen and never heard
She’s given up talking
Don’t say a word

She’s given up talking
She don’t say a word

Don’t say a word

Cantonese song: ACCUSTOMED TO FALLING OUT OF LOVE by JOEY YUNG (Rough translation)

1. If we had never held hands, our romance might have sizzled. But since we had held hands, our romance lasted shorter than a cough. I had fallen out of love even before I could taste happiness. I have forgotten the warmth of being loved. I cannot understand why I am not qualified enough to melt your heart. I only know that my heart is aching now. I ought to acknowledge that I am at fault for causing you to leave me so suddenly, but is it really my fault? How did you manage to predict so quickly and clearly that our romance would end like this?

2. I know that I am a person who is impossible to please. I count myself lucky that we have loved each other for a moment. But when I reflect upon our past, I ask myself whether I am indeed so detestable that I earn nothing but your hatred. I know that even my tears cannot move you. My tears are just there to test your patience. I tried approaching you in the past when I saw you alone, but you remained alone and called me stupid.

3. Am I not good enough? I still do not know how to kiss. I know how to earn your pity but do not know how to arouse your love. I am not worried about my wounded pride, but I worry that once I develop self-awareness I will become accustomed to falling out of love. I should have developed the ability to detect incompatibility.

4. I am not attractive enough and you are not blunt enough. Now that I think of it, I am unsure whether our love story has ever taken place.

5. I should stop punishing myself from now onwards. I should continue to chase after love even though my heart is broken. May we meet again one day. I do not know how to love because loving people is so difficult, but I am willing to learn how to love someone till eternity.

Good Charlotte "Hold On". It's a song about depression and suicide prevention. It goes like this:

Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know
Don't stop looking, you're one step closer
Don't stop searching, it's not over
Hold on

It gives me hope when I'm depressed.

Queensryche, "Some People Fly":
The box you live within is strong,
And it's up to you to see beyond
That comfort zone you've grown to love -
There's more to life than that!
The expectations that you hold
Will keep you down, make you old -
If you can't see what I'm trying to say,
Maybe you just need to wear my shoes for a while.
I can't live your way,
Go ahead without me,
I'll find my own way....

Or "Someone Else?":
From where I stand at the crossroad's edge,
There's a path leading out to sea,
And from somewhere deep in my mind
Sirens sing out loud
Songs of doubt
As only they know how...

The first time I heard "White Horse" by Taylor Swift it made me tear up because it reminded me of the guy I've posted about here before - I was madly in love with him but he was manipulative and would toy with me. What struck me most is that in the video for "White Horse" the girl finds out the guy already has a girlfriend and was cheating woth her, while she had no idea (similar to what happened with my ex and I). I wasn't over him at the time so the first line - "Say you're sorry, that face of an angel comes out just when you need it to" - cut into me.
