So, anyone have good advice on practicing an instrument? I'm a cellist trying to improve my practice habits (that I never had)

Some things I can think of:

1) keep it varied, don't focus too much on one piece, play etudes, scales, arpeggios, improvising, ect.

2) keep my gear in good shape. I got new rosin, magic rosin, sticky stuff. I just took my cello in to The Lord of the Strings and got a rehair of my favorite bow. My strings have some life left in them (though not much).

3) Share with other people, like my therapist, or musicians I meet through orchestra, or posting a video on YouTube and linking it to my Facebook and here. Have someone accompany me with the piano part.

3) listen to recordings, attend master classes, take lesssons

4) I can practice things slowly. I can focus on intonation and leave the dynamics and other markings for later. Though I am pretty good at that part. I need to be able to slow down and work on things and shifts and individual measures and notes.

5) Read up a little online, post on wrongplanet, Read strings magazine.

Can anyone think of something I missed?
