Whenever people ask me what kind of music I listen to, I always find it hard to answer. Most people will just say "Metal" or "Pop", but I basically listen to every genre. I guess most of the music I own is Metal and Industrial, but I listen to a lot of other stuff as well: I listen to Rap, Hip Hop, Arabic music, Trance, Classical, even the most commercial pop.. there hasn't been a genre so far that I totally disliked. For me it's just important that I like a particular song because of the voice, melody or beat, not what music genre it is.
Are you like that as well?

I'm the same. I'm not into any particular music. I'm normally into either something that's very old (currently have music from the '20-60s on my ipod) or obscure.

No, I definitely don't stray too far from specific genres. I love alt. metal, metalcore and nu-metal, and not much else.

People usually is just trying to make conversation, so do not elaborate that much. You can reply, for example: "I like different genres, like Metal, Rap, and Hip Hop", or "right now I am really into... (the kind of music you are listening to in that precise moment)". That should do.

Or you just say " I all types of music" and wait for them to continue.

I like any genre of music - well I'll give everything a chance. I was at a party on Saturday and we had half an hour of live funk, then the DJ decided to play some swing music, which was great. But, after about 45 mins of it, I was beginning to think he'd never play anything else, so I started to get bored. Then he played some rockabilly, old Caribbean/ Latin stuff and 80s electronica. I was in my element and dancing into the wee small hours.

My tastes are over a pretty wide range as well. I was in my high school's orchestra so I developed an appreciation for classical music. But I also sat in as a drummer with a friend's band a few times that did mostly alternative and metal covers. In college, I was in a heavily grunge and punk influenced band where each of us really had a wide range of influences (our lead singer was into a lot of British rock, our lead guitarist loved Mozart and the Pixies, the rhythm guitarist was into Aerosmith and Rancid, the bass player was into prog rock and jazz, and as the drummer, I was into anything).

I love punk, classic rock, old-school hip-hop, alternative rock, grunge, some industrial stuff... So I'm mostly a rocker, but not specific as to which forms of rock, and enjoy pretty much anything.

I can't really say the same as I am VERY particular about what kind of music I listen to. I absolutely detest pop music and I am pretty closed minded about what genres I'll listen to. I'm mostly into psychedelic rock (pink floyd or the doors), grunge (Alice in chains, nirvana), and techno (derango, skrillex, 1200 micrograms)

My favorite genre is The MUSIC Genre. I love all music no matter what it is. I don't know of anyone else who feels this way.

I'm exactly the same, I'm mostly into Industrial, Goth, EBM but I also love Classical, Trance, Turkish music, Arabic music, Metal, Rock, Pop, and so on. I also tend to focus on the the melody, beat, voice rather than on the genre, lyrics... I'm only having some problems with commercial music from my country and my adoption country (France and Sweden) :D

But none of those are techno bands...

Skrillex is the extreme mainstream form of dubstep

For example : Shy'm, Zaz, Chimène Badi, Jenifer, Amel Bent, ... mostly singers from Idol & Co. I have problems with them not because they don't have talent or potential but because the record companies make them do things that don't match my music tastes, things I find too superficial...
