Anyone else like funky music like this? My father played this kinda music a lot as a kid, and I much preferred it to like, The Beatles, which was on the oldies station a lot at that time. There was also a station that played mostly this type of music, with some 80s R&B, too, and it was great. But then one day it turned into a rap station and the world itself was altered, I bet that station changing formats was why 9/11 happened.

I was just getting into popular music at the very end of the funk era, so I remember some of it. Try Midnight Star, No Parking On The Dance Floor; and You Dropped A Bomb On Me by The Gap Band (I think). Also you forgot to post the god of all funk beats, Atomic Dog by George Clinton. Early Salt-N-Pepa, like Push It, is sometimes classified as funk although it's partly rap.
