I have always found it strange anyone can claim to hate a whole genre (admittedly it took some swaying for me on black metal, but there are good bands in the genre.) Why do metal fans love fighting between each other on small stylistic differences? Why can't it come down to music quality rather than about the particular genre?

I have also noticed bands describing themselves as Christian...this seems to cause flock followings from the religious and scorn from atheists. This seems to support fighting and,. again, not based around the quality of the music. I listen to a few "Christian" bands, so I see such debates often.

Quality > image, that's the message I am trying to support. Anyone else sick of this division?

Yeah, it is pretty dumb, especially when the differences between sub-genres are often very subtle and sometimes even completely imaginary.
