Straight Edge/Hardcore?

Does anyone on here have any affiliation with the straight edge/hardcore scenes in their area? If not, thoughts on it? And if so, what are your favorite aspects of it? I personally am very happy for hardcore and it has assisted me a lot and given me some solid friendships, that I don't know where I'd be today without.

I only care about the music (hardcore punk) sadly enough, not the scene.

This applies for all scenes and subcultures connected to music.
