Serj Tankian (former System of a Down member) has two albums coming out in the next couple months. The first, Orca, is orchestral music with vocals. I'm really interested to hear this one.

The second, Jazz-iz Christ, is an instrumental collaboration of progressive jazz and ethnic music. WTF?!? Maybe it will be brilliant... but I'm so disappointed he's headed in this direction.

Any fans out there? What do you think about this?!?

Why are you disappointed? Maybe some of it will relate to his Armenian roots?

I'm not a huge SOAD fan, but I like them. The second album sounds a more promising prospect to me, but then I like a bit of jazz.

I think my biggest disappointment is the instrumental part, because I love his voice. I've just never been big on jazz myself unless it has more of a blues touch to it.

Ah, yeah. The lack of the voice is disconcerting, didn't notice that. I was just looking at the 'jazz' and 'ethnic' parts, but yeah - that could be off-putting.

I've heard a little bit or Orca. It's safe to say that I cannot wait to hear the rest of it. I'm going to have to listen to the Jazz-Is-Christ clip one more time for an idea, though.

Be it music or poetry, Serj must be one busy man, which is nothing to complain about if the things he does are so awesome.

I want another SOAD album, 'nuff said.

I also prefer him in SOAD, especially System of a Down, Toxicity & Steal This Album!
