It's actually library music, but thanks to watching NFL Films productions of the 1980s, I've become sorta interested in production music.

By the late 1980's synthpop had lost a lot of it's original fun and quirkyness. OMD had gone from "Electricity" to "If You Leave", Berlin from "Sex I'm a" to "Take My Breath Away". This was a big hit in'88 for When in Rome

This song reached number 6 on the billboard chart in early 1990. In 1993 the album "Living In Oblivion : The 80's Greatest Hits, Vol. 1" was released. So I look at this song both as the last gasp of the New Wave era and the beginning New Wave nostalgia.

Xymox/Clan of Xymox a Dutch act did a lot of goth stuff but this song was a more of 80's styled synthpop that was a hit in the clubs and some alt/college radio in 1990 when the synthpop trend was pretty much over (until it got revived in this century) .
