Everybody grabs an interest and may even find quite unique an opinion of techno and how they totally love it...or wish they weren't bomarded with dancey stuff taking over everything they hear, almost....I mean, you can't hear goth or sometimes rock with the occasional indie-dance band. The Naked And Famous? Icona Pop? Say whatever you say, talk about your top favorite dance songs, top favorite bands, rave about it, rant, do with this thread what you please. It's all about discussing, arguing but hopefully being constructive with threading here. More than one video highly recommended to build up interest!

I tend to dabble in much older techno for some reason.

They vary in their different sub-genres:

Perhaps the newer sort of techno music I like to listen to is this:

So I'm afraid I can't give a definitive answer on the poll. :P

Actually I like the music that influenced techno, synthpop. Late 1970s robotic Post Punk synthpop through the more poppy 80s Second British Invasion synthpop.

As far as actual techno I can listen to it and like it for a time.

What you are calling techno would probably better be described as Electronica, techno is a specific genre of it. Anyway, the things I like the most in this genre are generally 80's synthpop and modern industrial.

Hated it when I heard the first examples of it in the early nineties.

But then I head Abigail Van Sziga do her mind bending techno version of the guilar rock hit "Smells Like Teenspirit" by Nirvanna and became a convert.

Techno is a subgenre itself and the items listed were other electronic subgenres not subgenres of techno.

Regardless my name should say it all. Left the poll open because I refuse to bow to my favorite genre being a subgenre of techno.

Wow, this guy's still around and making good stuff. Audiobiography came out about the time I was in the scene.

I like some trance, mostly hardtrance/aggrotech/hellektro type stuff (Funker Vogt for example) and can tolerate small doses of dubstep like Excision. I'm not a big fan of electronic music overall, except for industrial when coupled with rock/metal. I really like Strapping Young Lad, Rammstein and Celldweller type stuff.

Liking Funker Vogt, Psyclon 9, etc. and chunky/gritty trance makes a lot of sense - one really reminds me of the other with a question of whether it's with or without vocals. I came from an older pool of industrial, 1986-92 Skinny Puppy fan in particular, and my draw in electronic accordingly was the dark and drippy drum n bass of 1997-99 with the Aliens and Blade Runner vibes running hot (Metalheadz, Virus, Prototype, No U Turn etc. labels).

(note: the following are not techno)

I love it all, as long as it doesn't have actual vocals.

Give me anything which repeats the same thing for four bars, changes slightly, repeats for four bars, changes slightly, repeats for four bars..... mmmmmmm delicious.
