Mew - And The Glass Handed Kites (2005; Columbia Records)
I first found about Mew from a Myspace friend who had one of their songs on his profile. (Don't let the cheesey cover art throw you off!!) I sampled the CD tracks on Amazon, bought the CD at Best Buy and instantly fell in love !
Mew is an indie/symphonic rock band from Denmark. The band formed themselves around the year of 2003.
The ballads on And The Glass Handed Kites are heavily symphonic and are quite relaxing to listen to and the tracks overlap each other and flow together like Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd . My favorite songs off of this album would have to be The Zookeeper's Boy, Apocalypso, Special and Why Are You Looking Grave?
I like how the band uses figures of speech in the song The Zookeeper's Son :
Code:
You're tall just like a giraffe...You have to climb to find its head...But if there's a glitch...You're an ostrich...You've got your head in the sand...
I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this album to those who like alternative music!
