That thread made me question whether or not all the hate for hip hop on this forum actually had anything to do with the music.

I hate it all. Completely.
I see it as gang and ghetto culture. Anyone who thinks they what to live in a ghetto crowded with gangs is a nut case and I have absolutely nothing in common with them. I see no reason to glorify such an existence.
My aspirations are considerably higher than that of gangs and ghettos.

Hip hop as a genre isn't "gang and ghetto culture", it's part of hip hop culture, which is pretty much the opposite of low aspirations.

I used to like hip-hop/rap a lot more as a kid/teenager. Now I do pretty much see most of it as "wow, this s**t is depressing as 'the hood' is actually like these songs."
But some songs I still think are cool.
