The game of socializing
(An analogy ridden creative writing piece)
Was there ever a game that you just always hated?
You know the one, that game that everybody else could play on instinct, while you just fumbled through, teased because of how poorly you play.
Sure you read players guides, you spend hours watching other people play, you try all you can to learn but you never get any better.
The game everyone plays and wins, is the one you always lose. And no matter how often you try, you never get better.
Yes.
I hated these games
Chinese symbols was a game many acquaintances used to play. There would be a number of kitchen utensils in the center arranged in a pattern and everyone sat around. One person would be it and would leave the room. Then one person in the group would be the one they have to figure out and identify. Everyone would slowly mimic the person within the group to be identified in their posture or things they do. If the person being mimic'd scratched their hair, then slowly one by one, everyone would scratch their hair The kitchen utensils were absolutely not important.
This game was impossible for me to play. After a few times of being it, and never identifying who it was, I never played it again.
There were two other games, Two truths & a lie, and a game I forget the name of where you had to ask questions to a group of people, but only one person in the group at a time to figure out what the topic was they picked. I could never win in those games.
Also pictionary and charades suck ass. I hate those games.
Also a group of church friends had a way of choosing someone to do something. It was basically whoever was the last one to put a finger on their nose. It took me months to figure this out. There were a few times I refused to do what they wanted because I didn't want to and felt it sucked that I was always the one being asked to do the same things no one else wanted. I wish I knew that all I had to do was put a finger on my nose.
