I am doing the sound design for a production of Taming of the Shrew which will be set in more or less modern Italy. The director wants all of the music for the play to be Italian. If there are any Italians here or anyone who knows Italian music, please post your favorite bands and artists. I'm interested in ballades, rock, prog rock, rap, pop... anything. All lyrics should be in Italian.

Some of the groups that I've found interesting so far are Area, Lucio Battisti, Le Orme, Comu Na Petra, A.Articolo 31, and Ivano Fossati.

{hopes there's someone here who has an obsession about Italian music :wink: }

Thanks! :lol:

There are good dictionaries publihed in Italy abou pop-rock. You might consult them.
As for me, I don't follow much Italian pop-rock and I have no idea of the use you want to make of it.
I like:
Lucio Dalla
Lucio Battisti
Gianna Nannini
Mia Martini
Eleonora Berté
Avion Travels
Mina
Jazz vocalists Maria Pia De Meo and Tiziana Ghiglioni
Enzo Jannacci
Paolo Conte
Antonello Venditti
