"So you want to learn TK?"

"More than anything!"

"So you've taken the extrasensory aptitude test and you got a result which indicates you may have telekenetic abilities?"

"I passed, I almost didn't though."

"What you have to realize that moving a single object while it is possible to do, its not the most elegant way. You've heard of the first law, haven't you?"

"Yeah, of course, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."

"So when I try to push some heavy object, it ends up pushing me in the opposite direction I wanted to move it. What you need to do is push multiple objects at the same time, it requires you to expand your imagination, try to push yourself to imagine the most things with the most detail. If you arrange the objects just right you can end up moving several tons roughly anywhere you want. There is a steep learning curve and certain motions require you to plan ahead. Telekinesis is nothing more than the transfer of momentum."

"With items significantly smaller than you, there is less worry about your self being pushed and more on control."

"What do you mean control? Aren't small items easier if I don't have to anchor myself to one or more heavier objects?"

"One, maybe two small items are easy, but think of it this way. Smaller means quantity, and more oft requires a quality of effort to control."

"What can you do with small items that makes it hard?"

"Anyone with TK can throw a stone. But how easy is it to fence with three rapiers other than the one in your hand with any skill? How easy is it to hold up a number of objects in defense and move them to block incoming threats. Could you assemble a small device with a dozen or more parts with any precision? Could you do all these at the same time? What if the target is really small, a mote of dust or a grain of sand? Could you move just one? Could you move thousands with purpose?

"TK is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I can see why skill is needed now."
